Due to amnesia, he is considered insane and sent to a psychiatric hospital, where he is subjected to numerous experiments. He is given his jacket and locked up in a mortuary chamber, where his subconscious mind starts to wander and look into the future. There he meets Jackie (Keira Knightley), a grown-up girl he saw on the road shortly before the death of a police officer. Jackie is the only way to shed light on the events of that day.

A 118-year-old man, who calls himself Nemo Nobody (Jared Leto) is the last mortal man in the world, which is now inhabited by eternally young clones. It is not clear, which of the memories are real and which ones are just possible variants of Nemo’s life that have never happened.
